University of Missouri St. Louis Benton and Stadler Halls
Project Size: Interior Renovations
Contract Amount: $1,744,000
Finish: Drywall, Casework, and Vinyl Composite Tile Flooring
Owner: University of Missouri
Architect: Cannon
This interior finish and renovation project had a unique twist requiring two phases to complete. Phase one required underground, previously unfinished space with dirt floor, to be transformed into laboratory space. New footings, foundation and floor slab were poured to accommodate the high tech requirements. An elaborate underground plumbing system used for laboratories including glass drain line and copper water, gas and distilled water supplies was installed. The laboratories were finished with laboratory-grade casework, hoods and special resin countertops. A new heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system was also installed to service the newly finished space.

The second phase of the project was to renovate various existing laboratories on upper level floors of the building. This phase also included turning multiple laboratories into one large single laboratory. Walls, glass drain lines, copper water and gas lines were all relocated to meet the owner’s requirements. Finally, new casework, hoods and countertops were installed to complete the transformation.
